Kemmererit is a rare mineral from the chlorite group, a variety of clinochlore, rich in chromium oxide, giving it a carmine red or purple color. It often forms thin-cupped raids, which have their own name rhodochrome. Occurs in ultramafic metamorphic rocks. It was first discovered in the Urals at the Saranovskoye field. It is formed during the secondary hydrothermal alteration of chromites.
