Ankerite is a mineral belonging to the dolomite group. The extreme member of the isomorphic series of dolomite-ankerite. Found in hydrothermal deposits. The crystals have a lentil-like shape. Also found in solid masses. Named after M.Y. Anker - Austrian mineralogist.
